Description

Dalia Mattioni (Research Associate - FOODTRAILS project - School of Geography and Planning, Cardiff University) looks at the role of the food environment in consumer supply and eating behaviour: It is of course influenced by individual factors such as culture, personal taste preferences, income and family habits, but with the modernisation of our food systems - both in industrialised and less industrialised countries - external factors belonging to the food environment have increasingly come to shape our behaviour, whether consciously or unconsciously.

Dalia explains the links between the food supply and the food environment, and emphasises the role of food policies in achieving a more supportive food environment for sustainable and healthy diets.
