Description

Dr Nancy Aburto, Deputy Director of the Food and Nutrition Division (FAO), emphasises the close link between good nutrition and health, but points out that there is a misconception that nutrition is exclusively a health issue.

In addition to good health and strong health systems, many other factors contribute to good nutrition (hygiene, education, physiological status, age, gender and many others), although food remains a primary factor.

Dr Aburto explains what exactly healthy diets are and how we can promote them, at all levels of the food system.

She stresses the importance of considering the entire food system to ensure healthy diets and discusses FAO's strategies to help achieve this goal.
